Fatwa No. ( 7555 )
Q: A person who traded in cigarettes until he became wealthy or possessed wealth from this trade, then performed the obligatory Hajj with this money , is his Hajj accepted or not, and why? What is the ruling on one who does this work? Is it forbidden or not?
A: Tobacco is forbidden, and earning from it, whether by selling, manufacturing, promoting, cultivating, or the like, is forbidden. If one performs Hajj with expenses from such money and fulfills what is obligatory upon him in his Hajj, his Hajj is valid, but he is considered sinful for using forbidden money.
