Fatwa number ( 14654 )
Q: I traveled from my country, Bashout in the land of Shamran , to Bisha , accompanied by my children, my daughter, and her children with her. In the middle of the road, our car overturned without any cause attributable to me. I was the driver, and the speed did not exceed 80 kilometers per hour. The overturning resulted in some injuries and the death of my daughter’s daughter. We had taken her to the hospital while she was still alive. Therefore, I ask Allah, then your Eminence, is there an expiation upon me for this?
A : If the matter is as you described, it is obligatory for you to pay the expiation and the blood money. The expiation is freeing a believing slave; if you do not find one, then fast for two consecutive months. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
