Fatwa number ( 14259 )
Q: Is it permissible for a woman in the waiting period (iddah) whose husband passed away a month before Ramadan to perform the tarawih and tahajjud prayers? And is it permissible for her to leave the house in this state?
A: It is obligatory for a woman in the waiting period (iddah) for her husband to stay in her house, and she does not go out except to fulfill her necessary needs. She does not go out to perform the tarawih and tahajjud prayers in the mosque, but rather she prays in her house. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
