Q: What is the meaning of this phrase: “Whoever claims descent from a father other than his own father is in the Fire” ? Please give us a ruling.
A: What the questioner mentioned is the substance of a hadith narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in different wordings. Among them is what came from Abu Dharr that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 3508 It was narrated by Ahmad and al-Bukhari and Muslim . And among them is what came from Sa'd and Abu Bakrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 4326, 4327 It was narrated by Ahmad and al-Bukhari and Muslim and Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah . And among them is what came from Anas that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 5115Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by Abu Dawud . And these hadiths, although their wordings differ, all return to a warning for one who claims a father other than his own, of being deprived of Paradise and deserving the punishment of the Fire, for changing his lineage and mixing it up in lineages. This leads to much corruption, such as depriving an heir of his inheritance, giving inheritance to one who is not an heir, forbidding lawful sexual relations, permitting forbidden sexual relations, casting doubt on lineage, and despising the ancestors from whom one is descended, and being undutiful to them... and other than this of
corruption and bad consequences. And for that reason, he has incurred the continuous curse of Allah on the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

If somebody claims to be the son of any other than his real father knowingly, he but disbelieves in Allah
ليس من رجل ادعى لغير أبيه وهو يعلمه إلا كفرIf somebody claims to be the son of somebody other than his father knowingly, he will be denied Paradise (i.e. he will not enter Paradise).
من ادعى إلى غير أبيه وهو يعلم فالجنة عليه حرامIf anyone pretends to be the son of a man other than his father, or attributes his freedom to people other than those who set him free, on him will be the curse of Allah that will continue till the day of resurrection.
من ادعى إلى غير أبيه أو انتمى إلى غير مواليه فعليه لعنة الله المتتابعة إلى يوم القيامةcorruption and bad consequences.
