Q4: What are the rights of the child born of zina?
A4: His rights are the same as those of any other child of the Muslims, provided his mother is Muslim; for in that case he follows her. His rights are upon her, then upon those of her relatives who inherit from her, then upon the Muslim community, not upon the man who committed zina with her, because he is not a father in the eyes of the Shari'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
