more time . What is this oath, what is its expiation, and what should I do if my wife repeats what I forbade and the oath is triggered? And what should I do if I want her to repeat it, because I recently realized there is a benefit for me and for her in it? Please note that this oath and the incident occurred about nine years ago. Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
A: If the situation is as you described in your question, then the expiation for zihar is upon you if your wife does what you forbade her from, whether with your permission or without it. The expiation for zihar is: freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find one, then fast for two consecutive months. If you are unable to fast due to illness or the like, then feed sixty poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' of wheat, rice, or other staple food of the country, which is equivalent to one and a half kilograms. And you must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
