He said, “My wife is forbidden to me; I will not speak to so-and-so,” and now he regrets it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question from fatwa number ( 6903 )
Q6: A man said: “My wife is forbidden to me; I will not speak to so-and-so.” Now he regrets it. What should he do?
A6: If he intended to divorce her, then if he speaks to so-and-so, it is considered one divorce. He may take her back while she is in the waiting period, provided two just witnesses testify, if it was not the third of three divorces. If he intended only to prevent himself from speaking with him, then he owes an oath expiation if he speaks to him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
