A Christian caused an accident; is it permissible for his guardian to forgive him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 4662 )
Q: I inform you that I have a son who died in a car collision, and the person responsible for the accident is a disbeliever and non-Muslim, of Korean nationality. I seek reward from Allah, and I do not desire anything from the aforementioned person in exchange for my son's death. Will I be rewarded for that? Will I have reward from Allah? Is it permissible for me to forgive him, or is it not permissible? Please inform us immediately, and let the answer be by mail.
A: You have the right to forgive and pardon him, and it is hoped that you will have reward from Allah if you are sincere to Allah in your pardon of him, even if he is a disbeliever; due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allahفَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:40]
, but your pardon does not drop the right of others to the blood money if your son has an heir other than you
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
