Explanation of Riyad al-Salihin-68b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned several hadiths from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), which indicates the virtue of this woman and that she preserved for the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) from his Sunnah what no other woman among the women preserved. So she (may Allah be pleased with her) is the woman who narrated the most hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). She preserved from the Shari'ah of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger what no other woman preserved, so may Allah reward her for the Ummah of Muhammad with good.
'A'ishah said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
What do you think if I knew which night is the Night of Decree, what should I say in it? He said: Say: O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love pardon, so pardon me أرأيت إن وافقتُ أو إن علمت أي ليلةٍ ليلة القدر ما أقول فيها ؟ قال : قولي : اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 64:1283
: "Pardoner": And pardon is the passing over the sins of His servants. And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is Pardoning and Powerful, meaning: He pardons while possessing the power. It is not like the children of Adam when they are unable to do something, they say: "I forgive you." Rather, He pardons while possessing the power, (Exalted and Majestic is He). And this is the perfection of pardon. And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, loves those who pardon people:
but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah فمن عفا وأصلح فأجره على الله
[Ash-Shuraa 42:40]
.
And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, loves those who take the pardon from people. Rather, He commanded that, saying:
Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good خذ العفو وأمر بالعرف
[Al-A'raf 7:199]
The scholars said: The meaning of pardon is: take what is easy from people, meaning take what is easy from them, do not make it difficult for them, and do not tighten the rope. Take the pardon and leave what is beyond that. And this is among the etiquettes of the Qur'an that a person should be broad-chested toward the children of Adam and take the pardon.
So the point is that on the Night of Decree you say, meaning the best of what you supplicate with is to say: O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love pardon, so pardon me. And success is from Allah.
