Maintenance for a child is obligatory for the one in need

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16476 )
Q: I have two daughters whom I raised and took in as guardians until they became
teachers, and three years have passed since they were employed in education. I do not know that I have taken a single riyal from them, as they receive nine thousand riyals monthly, and they still bear my expenses for their upkeep and housing. I also have young children. Do these teacher daughters have the right for me to spend from the group's money on them, or should they bear their own expenses like their other siblings? Their legal share is taken by them in full after my death, and this is a decree from Allah.

A: Maintenance is only obligatory for you for those of your children who are in need and have no earnings. As for the one who is self-sufficient through his earnings, it is not obligatory for you to spend on him due to the lack of need. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
