Suckling from one's paternal grandfather's wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18401 )
Q4: I am a thirty-year-old man, and I previously was breastfed by my paternal grandfather's wife (a woman other than my father's mother). Since this wet nurse has passed away, and we do not know the number of breastfeedings, but there is a well-known and recognized amount of breastfeeding, is it permissible for me to greet my paternal grandfather's granddaughters, such as my father's brother's daughters and my father's sisters' daughters? Am I their paternal uncle or not, and are they mahram (a relative one may not marry) to me or not? May Allah reward you.
A4: As long as the suckling is not known, the obligatory precaution is to not consider it as suckling that creates a mahram relationship, due to the possibility that its legal conditions were not fulfilled. Therefore, the women mentioned are considered non-mahram to you. However, due to the possibility that its conditions were fulfilled, you should refrain from marrying them as a precaution. It is known from the principles of the Shari'ah that precaution is taken regarding lineage (abdu') more than in other matters; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5711Sahih (Darussalam)
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
So he, who saves himself from these doubtful things, saves his religion and his honorمن اتقى الشبهات فقد استبرأ لدينه وعرضه
Bulugh al-Maram 16:32
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
