Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: (Q.A.N), a Sudanese, says: Your Eminence, when I got married, I swore to my wife by Allah that I would not marry another woman as long as she is alive. Praise be to Allah, nothing has occurred between us to disturb this marital life. What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding this oath? May you be rewarded. And if I wish to marry, what should I do?

Answer:
There is no harm in marrying if there is a need. Allah has prescribed for you four wives. If there is a need to marry a second, third, or fourth wife, there is no harm. You must pay the expiation for an oath regarding your statement: "By Allah, I will not marry." You must pay the expiation for the oath if you marry. You should do what is best. If you are in need of marriage, you marry, and you expiate your oath. You should satisfy her, the wife, with whatever money is available to satisfy her. If she is not satisfied, satisfy her with something that pleases her regarding your promise to her. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, Your Eminence.
