Q: Regarding the topic of lowering the gaze, I am a young man of twenty years. I do lower my gaze, but during and before sleep, I continue to think about the desire for lust. How can I refrain from this bad habit and keep Satan away from me, even though I recite the Qur'an before sleeping?
A: First: It is obligatory for you to lower your gaze from what is forbidden, and it is not permissible for you to look at magazines or films that contain images of women. Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nur 24:30] . Second: You should marry if you are able, for it is a means to lowering the gaze, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified in what is established from him, for he said: Mishkat al-Masabih 3080 .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.
قُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ ذَلِكَ أَزْكَى لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَYoung man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality; but those who cannot should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire.
يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج، فانه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج، ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فإنه له وجاءAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
