The second question of Fatwa No. ( 278 )
Q2: If a woman has a maternal grandmother, and her daughter marries a husband, does the daughter's maternal grandmother become a mahram to her husband, such that she may uncover herself before him?
A2: If the matter is as you described, the maternal grandmother is a mahram to the husband of her daughter's daughter; because Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:23] until He said: , and the maternal grandmother, however high up the lineage she is, is a mother and is given her ruling. Accordingly, it is permissible for her to uncover herself before the husband of her daughter's daughter.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
