The Marriage Contract for the Deaf
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of the fatwa numbered ( 15922 )
Q3: A man has been afflicted by Allah with deafness and muteness, and he wants to get married. How is the contract concluded for him by the official marriage officer? Given that this person cannot read or write, what is to be done?
A3: The deaf-mute marries by using understandable gestures, which he uses in his eating, drinking, and other actions; because understandable gestures in this case take the place of speech for him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
