The Sunnah in the Marriage Contract

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 18200 )
Q: What is the recommended method for concluding the marriage contract? Is there any report in the hadiths regarding the wording of the marriage proposal? Which place is better for the marriage proposal? Who has the most right to make the marriage proposal? What is the ruling on the practice in South Africa where a reciter reads whatever portion of the Noble Qur'an he can before the marriage proposal? What is the ruling on making supplication in a group after the marriage proposal? That is, the imam supplicates aloud, raising his hands, and the attendees say "Ameen" to his supplication, raising their hands.
A: The marriage contract is completed by the offer, which is the statement made by the woman's guardian or his agent, saying: "I give you in marriage" or "I marry you to," or similar wording,
and by the acceptance, which is the statement made by the groom or his agent, saying: "I accept this marriage" or "I am pleased with it," or similar wording. This must be done in the presence of two just witnesses. There are no specific words, supplications, or recitations required before the contract, except that it is recommended to recite the "Sermon of Need" narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which is:
Sunan Ibn Majah 1892
(peace and blessings be upon him), then to recite three verses, which are:
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]

O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate
[An-Nisa 4:1]
the verse,
O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70]
the verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
