The first question of Fatwa number ( 6012 )
Q1: I have wanted to marry a woman for a long time, but due to my financial circumstances, I was unable to marry her, and days, indeed long years, passed without this being realized. So I said to myself: I pledge to you that I will marry you even if you were advanced in age. Now my situation has improved, praise be to Allah, and she is currently unmarried. However, my desire for her is very little, and I have no love for her in my heart after I used to love her greatly. I fear that if I marry her, I will bear her as a responsibility without any desire that draws me to her. What is your opinion, O your Eminence, regarding this pledge that I bound myself to for all these years?
A1: Marriage is a sunnah (recommended practice) of the messengers, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged it and urged those who are able to marry. He said, in what is authentically reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him):Mishkat al-Masabih 3080
It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. There is no blame on you for leaving the marriage of the woman you intended to marry a long time ago, as long as you do not find desire for marrying her. Allah will provide for her without you and provide for you without her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality; but those who cannot should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire.
