The second question of Fatwa number ( 13680 )
Q2: A young man who recently committed himself to the religion has proposed to me. He is now, praise be to Allah, diligent in performing the prayer and attending lessons of knowledge, to the extent that he travels to neighboring villages for them. He is from a good family, and when my family inquired about him, it became clear that he is diligent in praying in the mosque. Does this align with the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Ibn Majah 802Da'if (Darussalam) , or something to that effect, and also with the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1084Da'if (Darussalam) , the Messenger of Allah spoke the truth. I bring to your attention that I have performed the prayer of istikharah, but I did not feel or dream of anything. I also know that my father agrees to the marriage, but my mother is worried about his sister and his mother. Does the mother (my mother) have the right to reject him for such a reason, even though they are good people? What should I do? Should I reject him because of my mother, or should I agree to it because he is committed and the hadith applies to him? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
A2: Your guardians should investigate the prospective groom and ask those among the people in whom you have confidence. If it becomes clear to you that he is satisfactory in his religion and character, then marry him and convince your mother of this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

إذا رأيتم الرجل يعتاد المساجد فاشهدوا له بالإيمانWhen someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes to (someone under the care) of one of you, then marry to him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil (Fitnah) in the land and abounding discord (Fasad).
