Preventing the husband from his wife on certain days
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19808 )
Q: I am a married man, and I was in one of the circles organized by some jurists in our street, and I understood from the speech
of one of the jurists that he says: If a man wants to come to his wife—meaning: to have intercourse with his wife—he should not have intercourse with her on the following days of the week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. He also said that bathing on Wednesday is forbidden, and whoever bathes for forty (40) consecutive Wednesdays will die by iron. So what is your ruling on these statements?
A: What this jurist mentioned regarding preventing the husband from having intercourse with his wife on the aforementioned days, and preventing bathing on Wednesday—is a false statement, having no basis, and a mistaken belief. Therefore, it is not permissible to believe it, nor to act upon what he said. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
