Fatwa number ( 1533 )
Q: She has suffered from a mental illness since she was 11 years old, and it seems to be due to the interaction of a jinn with her, knowing that, by the grace of Allah, she is careful about her religion. She got married and had children, then she turned away from her husband so that
he would not approach her to have intercourse with her. She feels as if a man is having intercourse with her just as a man has intercourse with his wife. She says: A man wrote verses from the Qur'an for me, and I placed them in a mushaf and put that under my head, but that did not prevent what I experience from me. All of this happens to me in dreams, and even at night it seems to me. It is a problem that no one knows except Allah. So first: Will anything from Allah befall me? Second: Is there a religious or medical cure for this illness? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: First: There is no blame on you for what you experience in your sleep, namely that a man has intercourse with you as a man has intercourse with his wife, because the burden is lifted from the sleeper by the Shari'ah. However, if the known semen comes out of you, you must perform the full ritual bath, and you must allow your husband to have access to you to the extent of your ability so that he may satisfy his desire from you. If you are unable to do so, or if the husband waives his right, there is no blame on you either. Second: This illness is treated by the following: 1 - Relying upon Allah, turning to Him, supplicating to Him, and seeking aid from Him, with sincerity and humility, asking Him to remove this harm and take away the affliction. This includes ruqyah with the Qur'an and with the dhikr and supplications narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), such as reciting
Surat al-Ikhlas, and[Al-Falaq 113:1] and [An-Nas 114:1] three times, with spitting into the hands after each recitation, and wiping the front of the body with them. It is like ruqyah by reciting Surat al-Fatihah, and like reciting the Verse of the Throne when a person lies down in his bed to sleep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also guided the one who wants to sleep to perform the ablution for prayer as he does for prayer, lie on his right side, and say: Riyad as-Salihin 813 And among what is hoped to protect Allah's servant from harm is that he says when he wakes up in the morning and when he goes to bed in the evening: (In the name of Allah, with whom nothing in the earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times, and that he says whenever he arrives at a place: (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), and other dhikr and supplications established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Indeed, in that is a cure for souls, spirits, and bodies, and protection from the devils of mankind and jinn. 2 - Contacting doctors of mental and nervous diseases at the hospital specialized in mental diseases and others, perhaps they will find a cure for it. We ask
Allah for your health and safety, and we advise you once again to increase in supplicating to Allah and humbling yourself to Him, and asking Him for healing from what has befallen you, for He is the One who said, Exalted is He:[Ghafir 40:60] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
