How to Treat the Condition of Al-Jathom

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter from one of the female listeners, who indicated her name with the initials (D. Q) from al-Majma'ah. Our sister says: I often suffer from the condition of al-jathom, and I hear many people mentioning much of their suffering from this condition. What is the origin of this condition? Is it physical or psychological? Or is it from the jinn? And what is the way to get rid of it?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
I do not know anything clear about this, except that I advise taking the prescribed forms of seeking refuge when sleeping. A person should recite the prescribed dhikr when sleeping:
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existenceاللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ
[al-Baqarah: 255] Ayat al-Kursi, and recite
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[al-Ikhlas: 1] and the two Mu'awwidhat three times when sleeping, and he will be safe from this harm. And among that is saying:
I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He createdأعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق
Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani)
three times when sleeping, or at the beginning of the night,
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'a ismihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alimباسم الله الذي لا يضر مع اسمه شيء في الأرض ولا في السماء، وهو السميع العليم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3869
three times at the beginning of the night, or when sleeping. All of these are protection from the causes of this al-jathom. And the most likely, and Allah knows best, is that it is from the work of the devils, but these dhikr and forms of seeking refuge remove it and prevent it, and praise be to Allah.

The presenter: Praise be to Allah. Does our sister remember, Your Eminence the Shaykh, that she is consistent with the morning and evening adhkar?

The Shaykh: When she is sincere, this will be removed. When she is sincere with it, and she does it with knowledge, certainty, and sincerity, then Allah will protect her from this harm. Yes.

The presenter: And Allah is the Helper, may Allah reward you with good.
