Preventing pregnancy due to the wife's illness

Fatwa number ( 3641 )
Q: My wife is in her eighth month of her ninth consecutive pregnancy, and I praise Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) that the eight children she has given birth to are alive, and our living conditions are improving; whenever Allah (Mighty and Majestic) grants us a child, He provides for him. However, my wife suffers greatly from this succession of pregnancies and from pregnancy in general because she has been afflicted with illnesses throughout her married life. A contagious illness has remained with her, causing ulcers in her tongue and gums. We have visited doctors repeatedly, and it goes away for a short period, then returns. It prevents her from eating normal food for periods that sometimes last
up to a week, which has weakened her. She took birth control pills once in her life, and they caused her severe sensitivity, from which she still suffers. Recently, she suggested that I have a surgical operation performed on her by specialized doctors, which is the removal of the uterus or its inversion; I learned of this from some women who had these operations performed on them. Therefore, I ask you, may Allah reward you, to guide me regarding the Shari'ah's view on the possibility of fulfilling my wife's request or not. May Allah reward you.
A: If the situation is as you described in the question, there is no harm in her using what prevents pregnancy. However, if a means of preventing pregnancy other than cutting out the uterus or inverting it is available, that is better; taking the easier of the easy options. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
