Q6: There is a noble hadith that forbids women from using perfume and fragrant scents, especially when going to the mosque. Is it permissible to use perfume to reduce the odor of her body that soap does not remove?
A6: The basic ruling is that it is not permissible for a woman to use perfume that has a fragrant scent if she intends to leave her house, whether her going out is to the mosque or elsewhere; due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Any woman who then goes out and passes by
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 3:200 narrated by Ahmad and al-Nasa'i and al-Hakim from the hadith of Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him). As far as we know, there is no odor on the body that soap does not remove, such that she would need to use perfume after bathing with it. Also, a woman is not required to go to the mosque; rather, her prayer in her house is better for her than her prayer in the mosque.
