The ruling on a woman using perfume when she goes out

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner in this question is Umm Muhammad from al-Qunfudhah. She says: The hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), which in its meaning states that a woman who goes out wearing perfume and the men smell her scent is such and such. The questioner asks: She is a woman who does not use perfume when she goes out. She says: I try to avoid going out in clothes of adornment or in clothes that have traces of perfume, but because of the intense heat in my country, I find that I have a bad smell from sweat, to the point that I sometimes go out and feel hesitant about meeting people. Please guide us with your knowledge, O Shaykh?

Answer:
It is not permissible for a woman to use perfume when she goes out that men can detect; because this causes fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever (woman) fumigates herself with perfume should not join us in the 'Isha'أيما امرأة أصابت بخورًا فلا تشهد معنا العشاء
Sahih Muslim 444
A woman is an 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) and a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). So if she uses perfume that men find in the road, this becomes one of the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation).
As for perfume that men do not detect, but which is among women, where a woman who approaches her or shakes her hand and stands up from her can detect it, but men do not detect it in the roads, then this does no harm. So she should seek out perfume whose scent does not reach men when she goes out.
As for in the house, there is nothing wrong with it. She may use whatever perfume she wishes among women, among her mahram (a relative one may not marry) relatives, and with her husband. She may use whatever Allah has made pleasing for her. But when going out, she should avoid perfume that has a scent that men can detect in the roads. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
