Ruling on a woman applying perfume when she goes out

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The sister: N. M. S. - from Casablanca in Morocco, she says in her question:
Is it permissible for a woman to apply perfume if she wants to go to school, the hospital, or to visit relatives and neighbors?
A: It is permissible for her to apply perfume if her going out is to a women’s gathering where she does not pass by men on the way. However, it is not permissible for her to go out with perfume to markets where there are men; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If a woman fumigates herself with perfume, she must not attend the night prayer with us.أيما امرأة أصابت بخورًا فلا تشهدن معنا العشاء
Sunan Abi Dawud 4175Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and other narrations that have come regarding this.
And because her going out with perfume on the path of men and in men’s gatherings -such as mosques- is among the causes of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). Also, she must cover herself and be cautious of tabarruj (a woman's display of her adornment); because of the saying of He, Exalted and Majestic is He:
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignoranceوَقَرْنَ فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْأُولَى
[Surat al-Ahzab: 33]. And among tabarruj is displaying the charms and beauties; such as the face, the head, and others. And success is from Allah.
