Q3: What is the ruling on shaking hands with a female friend, and likewise regarding kissing?
A3: It is not permissible for a Muslim to shake hands with a woman who is not lawful for him, nor to be alone with her, nor to kiss her; because this is a means to unlawful sexual intercourse, which is one of the major sins. Allah has forbidden all means that lead to unlawful sexual intercourse, such as forbidden looking and being alone with a woman. Kissing her is more severe than that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
