A1: Foreign banks deal in riba (usury or interest) with those they lend to, with those who deposit money in them, and with others. It is necessary for one who works as an accountant in such a bank to handle the accounting of riba transactions, recording in the ledgers what is owed by and to each party of the transaction, thereby determining who is the debtor and who is the creditor. Accordingly, the aforementioned hadith applies to the accountant in foreign banks and similar financial institutions.
