What is the ruling on using gold pens or wearing gold watches?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on using gold pens or wearing gold watches?

The Shaykh : As for women wearing gold-plated watches, there is nothing wrong with it, as this is part of jewelry, provided that a woman does not burden herself with buying these watches if she has little money, such that she borrows to buy them or buys them at the expense of her maintenance, because that is extravagance. And Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess. إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
[Al-An'am 6:141]
As for the man, it is not permissible for him to wear gold-plated watches due to the generality of the hadith:
Gold and silk have been permitted for the females of my Ummah, and forbidden to the males. أحل الذهب والحرير لإناث أمتي، وحرّم على ذكورها
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5148Sahih (Darussalam)
Likewise, pens, because placing pens in the pocket is a type of adornment, and therefore you find some people choosing the brightest and best-looking pens to put in their pocket.
In summary: if that is, if the use of that is by men, it is forbidden, and if it is by women, it is lawful. As for if the watch is coated with gold only as a color and has no substance, then there is nothing wrong with it, but we advise against using it. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you. The questioner says this, O Shaykh.
