Wearing the niqab and gloves during ihram
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 4127 )
Q5: I read your fatwa that a woman must cover her face and hands, even if she is in the state of ihram for Hajj or 'Umrah. It is also well known that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that a woman in the state of ihram does not wear the niqab or gloves, so how does a woman cover her face during ihram? Does she wear the niqab while in ihram? Does she wear gloves while in ihram? Or how does she cover her face and hands? It is well known that during Hajj, it is difficult to keep a distance from men due to the heavy crowds. We ask for a detailed explanation of this matter so that the truth becomes clear to us.
A5: A woman in the state of ihram for Hajj or 'Umrah does not wear the niqab or gloves until
she exits her state of ritual consecration by the first exit, and she should only lower the khimar of her head over her face if she fears that non-mahram men will see her, and her fear of this is not continuous; because some women are alone with their mahrams, and whoever is unable to be alone away from non-mahram men should keep her khimar lowered over her face for as long as the necessity requires, and there is no blame on her for that. Likewise, she covers her hands with something other than gloves, such as an abaya. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
