Working in Foreign Countries

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16221 )
Q2: Given the severity of poverty and the numerous debts I am suffering from, especially with unemployment being widespread to a degree known only to Allah the Exalted, the question now is: Is it permissible in this situation to ask people for voluntary charity or zakah, even if they are in a distant country like yours? And is it permissible to seek a job contract from
an external entity? We ask for your guidance.
A2: If the situation is as you described, there is no blame on you in asking for voluntary charity and the like. As for seeking work outside the country you are in, if it is one of the Islamic countries, this is part of traveling the earth to seek sustenance, and keeping oneself from need and destitution. Striving to seek lawful sustenance is among the objectives of the pure Shari'ah. And Allah knows best.
