The dispensation for breaking the fast for the farmer if he is in the time of harvest
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 3418 )
Q1: What is the ruling on one who plants the land and his harvest coincides with the month of Ramadan? Is he excused from fasting Ramadan or not from working? Knowing that he cannot fast and engage in the work.
A1: Fasting the month of Ramadan is a pillar of Islam and is obligatory upon the Muslim who has reached the age of accountability by scholarly consensus, and by the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:185] Therefore, it is obligatory to take care of fasting Ramadan and not to be lenient in breaking any part of it without a prescribed excuse. As for the farm, it is the property of its owners, and its owners are able to manage their working time in their farms by harvesting at the cool time of the night, or by hiring someone to harvest it who is not harmed by fasting, within the limits of the customary wage, or by delaying the harvest if that does not cause harm. And whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
