Zakat on the share of the one who harvests the grain: on whom is it due?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 12284 )
Q: I planted a piece of land with a barley crop. After it grew, I gave it to another person to harvest that crop in exchange for one-third of the yield from this crop. The harvest was 30 ardeb. I took twenty ardeb, and the harvester took ten ardeb. On whom of us is the zakat due on the ten ardeb that he took from my crop in exchange for the harvest?
A: Zakat is obligatory on the entire harvest, and it is paid out from the share of the owner of the crop. There is no zakat on the one who undertook the harvest, because he is a hired worker. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
