If the one who prays rises from the first tashahhud, does he lean on his thighs or on the ground?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If the one who prays rises after the first tashahhud, what is the recommended practice (sunnah) regarding the manner of his rising? In other words, does he rise by leaning on his thighs or by leaning on the ground? I hope you will clarify this with evidence.

The Shaykh : The recommended practice (sunnah) is to rise from the first tashahhud by relying on one’s knees and standing up on the balls of one’s feet. However, if a person is heavy, weak, or advanced in age and needs to rely on his hands, he should rely on his hands to help him stand up. This is because the apparent indication from what was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is this. A person must follow the apparent meaning of the texts unless evidence comes to the contrary. If evidence comes to the contrary, specifying, restricting, or detailing the apparent meaning, it is obligatory to act in accordance with it.
