What is the ruling on sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the first tashahhud of the prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Eid Abbasi : The ruling on the tashahhud: Is sending blessings upon the family of the Messenger (peace be upon him) in the first tashahhud disliked? What is the evidence? And does the one praying complete the greetings by sending blessings upon the family?

The Shaykh : Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the prayer has no place except in the tashahhud. As is well known, there are two tashahhuds in the four-rak'ah and three-rak'ah prayers. The scholars agreed that the last tashahhud is the place for sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but they differed regarding the first tashahhud: Is sending blessings upon the Messenger (peace be upon him) prescribed or not? The Hanafis disliked it with a prohibition-based dislike, while the Shafi'is considered it a recommended practice (sunnah) that is prescribed. This is what we have no doubt about at all, because the hadiths that came regarding the prescription of sending blessings upon the Messenger (peace be upon him) in the salam are general and were not restricted to the second tashahhud. This is a discussion that takes a lot of time, but I will suffice with this brevity along with a clear hadith on the subject. It is from the hadith of the Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in some of her narrations where she described the night prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said that he prayed nine rak'ahs, sat in the eighth rak'ah, recited the tashahhud, and sent blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then stood up for the ninth rak'ah. This is a clear text regarding sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the tashahhud before the last one, which does not include the salam.
Other than that?

Eid Abbasi : Did it come in the Sunnah that the supplication of the sick person is answered? If so, do we ask him to supplicate for us?

The Shaykh : Excuse me, before this, I remembered that there was something remaining from the answer to the previous question.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) should not be left incomplete, but rather should be complete. That is, as the Shafi'i school states, one says: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad" and does not mention the family when he says: "And upon the family of Muhammad," then stands up. We say: The prayer did not come in this form, but it came in various formulas, some of which are long and some are short. If a person is praying behind an imam who is quick in recitation and not slow, and he has experienced that he barely finishes the tashahhud before the imam stands up, then in this case the one praying chooses the shortest formula from the established formulas of sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I had collected them in my book "The Description of the Prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The shortest is to combine the sending of blessings and the sending of peace:
O Allah! Send Your Mercy on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your Mercy on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise-worthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah! Send Your Blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent your Blessings on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise-worthy, the Most Glorious. اللهم صلِّ على محمد وعلى آله محمد ، كما صليت وباركت على آل إبراهيم ؛ إنك حميد مجيد
Sahih al-Bukhari 3370
. This is the shortest thing that came. If he is able to complete it, that is fine; otherwise, he follows the imam and nothing is required of him. However, if he prays as an imam or prays alone, he should maintain sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) even in the first tashahhud, because this prayer is more complete. This discussion is long, and it is sufficient that you remember the hadith of the Companion when the word of the Exalted came down:
O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
[Al-Ahzab 33:56]
They said: O Messenger of Allah, we have known this salam for you; so how is the sending of blessings for you?
They said: We have known this salam, meaning the salam in the tashahhud. Thus, every salam in the tashahhud is accompanied by sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So he said to them:
and say: Alahumma salli 'ala Muhammad قولوا : اللهم صلِّ على محمد
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1292Hasan (Darussalam)
to the end of the hadith. And as we mentioned earlier, the narrations differ, some being long and some being short.
Yes.
