Truck Drivers in Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 6281 )
Q: There are some truck owners who work with them throughout the year and are constantly traveling. Is it permissible for them to break their fast in Ramadan, and when and at what time must they make up the missed days, or is it not permissible for them to break their fast?
A: If the distance they cover in their travel is a distance for which shortening the prayer is legislated, then it is permissible for them to break their fast while traveling. They must make up the days they broke from the month of Ramadan before the next Ramadan enters; due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
And they have the choice of the days on which they make up what they missed from the days of Ramadan, combining the removal of hardship from them and the making up of the fasting they owe. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
