If one intends to perform Hajj or 'Umrah by plane, from where does one enter the state of ihram?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa number ( 1693 )
Q3: If one intends to perform Hajj or 'Umrah, and it is difficult for him to enter the state of ihram by plane, and furthermore he does not know the distance to the miqat, is it permissible for him to delay entering the state of ihram until Jeddah or not?
A3: If one intends to perform Hajj and 'Umrah and is in the plane, he may take a full ritual bath
in his house, and wear the two garments of ihram if he wishes. When he is a short distance from the miqat, he enters the state of ihram for the Hajj or 'Umrah he intends. There is no hardship in this. If he does not know the miqat, he should ask the pilot, one of his assistants, one of the stewards, or a passenger he trusts who is knowledgeable about it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
