The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand President from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and referred to the Committee by the Department of Scientific Research and Ifta under number 231 on 21 \ - \ 1408 AH. His Excellency the Deputy asked the following: (I received from the Embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Bonn a request asking for your opinion on whether it is obligatory for an individual who embraces Islam to change his first name so that he may visit the holy sites to perform the obligatory Hajj, and whether he is deprived of that unless he changes it? I hope you will kindly inform me of the response to be given to the embassy on this matter).the Two Holy Mosquesin Bonn a request asking for your opinion on whether it is obligatory for an individual who embraces Islam to change his first name so that he may visit the holy sites to perform the obligatory Hajj, and whether he is deprived of that unless he changes it? I hope you will kindly inform me of the response to be given to the embassy on this matter).
After the Committee studied the inquiry, it answered: If his Islam is established, his remaining with his name does not prevent him from entering the holy sites according to the Shari'ah.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
