Group Iftar in Voluntary Fasting
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 11596 )
Q: There are groups of people working in the field of da'wah in most of the Algerian universities who announce every Sunday that there will be a group iftar. They fast on Monday, then gather in one of the halls and break their fast together. When we inquired about this practice, we were told: It is for the benefit of da'wah, and we want to unite the ranks of the Muslims. The question is about the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding this; is it one of the newly invented matters or not?
A: If the matter is as mentioned in the question, there is no harm in the aforementioned gathering and announcing it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
