Is it permissible for a person to pray in a room that contains intoxicants?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a person to pray in a room where there are intoxicants? Please inform us of this, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : It is permissible for a person to pray in a room that contains intoxicants, because if he prays in this room and does not neglect any of the conditions, pillars, or obligations of the prayer, and none of its invalidators are present, then the prayer is valid, as the causes of validity are present and its preventers are absent.
However, I say: Can a believer have intoxicants in his home when he knows from the religion of Islam as a matter of necessity that intoxicants are forbidden, where the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the consensus of the Muslims indicate that intoxicants are forbidden? Allah the Exalted said:
(90) O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (91) Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist? (92) And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware. And if you turn away - then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:90-92]
, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every intoxicant is Khamr and every intoxicant is forbidden.
Sahih Muslim 2003b
, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whatever a lot of it intoxicates, a little of it is unlawful.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1865Hasan (Darussalam)
. Accordingly, it is not permissible for a man who believes in Allah and the Last Day to have intoxicants in his home, just as it is not permissible for him to sell intoxicants, buy them, assist in them in any form of assistance, or drink them. Whoever drinks them while considering them permissible, or considers them permissible even if he does not drink them, commits disbelief that takes him out of the religion, if he is one who lived among Muslims, because he denied the prohibition of what is known as forbidden by necessity in the religion of Islam. And my advice to my Muslim brothers in general is to fear Allah the Exalted in themselves, their families, and their society, and to avoid such filth, which does not increase them in anything from Allah except distance, and does not increase them in their lives except anxiety, fatigue, and a deficiency in religion, intellect, and wealth. We ask Allah for guidance for us and for them.

The questioner : O Allah, amen.
