Naming Someone 'Abdullah al-'Ashiq' (Lover of Allah), 'Muhammad Allah', or 'Muhibb Allah' (Friend of Allah)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 4679 )
Q1: Many people name their children 'Abdullah al-'Ashiq' (Lover of Allah), 'Muhammad Allah', and 'Muhibb Allah' (Friend of Allah). Is it permissible to use these names or not?

A1: Naming someone 'Abdullah al-'Ashiq' (Lover of Allah) is improper conduct. There is no harm in naming someone 'Muhammad Allah' or 'Muhibb Allah' (Friend of Allah), but it is better to avoid that and name them with names of servitude to Allah, such as Muhammad, Salih, or Ahmad, without any addition. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
