Verbalizing the Intention When Slaughtering the Udhiyah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 5928 )
Q2: Is it permissible to verbalize the intention, for example, if I want to slaughter an udhiyah for my deceased father, should I say, "O Allah, this is the udhiyah of my father so-and-so," or should I perform the need without verbalizing it, and is that sufficient?
A2: The place of the intention is the heart, so one is sufficient with what he intends in his heart, and he does not verbalize the intention. He must say the name of Allah and the takbir when slaughtering; for what is established in the two Sahihs from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) slaughtered two rams as sacrifice and mentioned Allah's Name and said, "Allahu-Akbar"ضحى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بكبشين ذبحهما بيده وسمى وكبر
Sahih al-Bukhari 7399
.
There is no harm in saying: "O Allah, this is an udhiyah on behalf of my father," and this is not verbalizing the intention. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
