He wants to give to his dutiful son and deprive his undutiful son

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 20321 )
Q5: I have two sons: one is dutiful to me and my mother, and the other is undutiful to me and my mother. I want to give all my real estate and land to my dutiful son, while depriving my undutiful brother of it. What is the ruling of the religion in this matter?
A5: It is not permissible for parents to show preference in gifts among their children; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children.اتقوا الله واعدلوا بين أولادكم
Sahih al-Bukhari 2587
, and because that causes envy, hatred, animosity, and severance of ties among siblings, and all of that is contrary to the objectives of the pure Shari'ah, which came with the exhortation to foster affection, bond, love, and compassion among relatives and kin. It is obligatory for the parents to seek the reform of their undutiful children through means that do not include harms in the near or far future in the life of the family, along with frequent supplication for their rectitude and righteousness, and Allah is the Helper. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
