My father forced me to marry my cousin, so I refused this marriage on the grounds that this young man never prays, and I am a committed person who wants someone to help me with my religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My father forced me to marry my cousin, so I refused this marriage on the grounds that this young man never prays, and I am a committed person who wants someone to help me with my religion. He said: "I am innocent of you until the Day of Judgment, for I gave my word to my cousin, and if you do not marry him, you are undutiful to your parents." Please guide me, what should I do?

The Shaykh : Remain in your refusal to marry this man who does not pray, because the one who does not pray is a disbeliever, and it is not permissible for anyone to marry his daughter to one who never prays, because a Muslim woman is not lawful for a disbeliever. Allah the Exalted said:
And if you know them to be believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers; they are not lawful [wives] for them, nor are they lawful [husbands] for them
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:10]
And I advise this father, your father, to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and not to betray the trust, and to know that he is responsible for his daughter if he forces her to marry this man or anyone else. Even if a man who is the most complete in religion, character, and intellect, and the wealthiest among them, proposed to her and she refused, he has no right to force her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
a virgin should not be given in marriage until her permission is sought لا تُنكح البكر حتى تستأذن
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1107Sahih (Darussalam)
And he said:
A virgin's father seeks her permission. البكر يستأذنها أبوها
I also advise your father, if what you mentioned about him is true, to advise his nephew to pray, urge him to it, and warn him of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So I see that you should remain in your refusal. If your father gets angry, is upset, or says you are undutiful, it does not matter; you are not undutiful, but he is the one who severs the family ties if he wants to force you to marry someone you do not want. How much more so when he wants to force you to marry a disbeliever? We ask Allah for safety.
Then I, too, offer advice to this suitor to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in himself, and to pray, and to enter Islam from where he left it. The matter is serious, and the evidence for the disbelief of the one who abandons prayer is clear in the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the words of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Indeed, some of the imams, such as Ishaq ibn Rahawayh, transmitted the consensus of the Companions on the disbelief of the one who abandons prayer. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you for this guidance. This questioner says.
