The position of the ma'mum relative to the imam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 10565 )
Q4: If two of us are praying together in congregation, should we stand in the same row or should the second one stand behind?
A4: The Sunnah in congregational prayer is for the ma'mum to stand beside the imam on his right, in the same row, if there are only two; based on the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
I stayed overnight with my maternal aunt Maimunah, and the Prophet (ﷺ) got up during the night to perform prayer. So I got up and stood on his left. He took me by the hand and made me stand on his right.بت عند خالتي ميمونة، فقام النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي من الليل فقمت عن يساره فأخذني فجعلني عن يمينه
Sunan Ibn Majah 973Sahih (Darussalam)

It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
