Praying Alone at Home While the Mosque Is Nearby
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6706 )
Q1: I am a young man, 19 years old. I pray at home, and there is a mosque next to me, but I do not go to it despite hearing the call to prayer. What is the ruling on this prayer?
A1: If your situation is as you described, your prayer at home
is forbidden, because you left off the congregational prayer in the mosque, which is obligatory. However, it is valid; because although the congregational prayer in the mosque is obligatory, it is not a condition for the validity of the prayer, according to the correct of the scholars' opinions. You must repent of that; because Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nur 24:31] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
