The ruling on praying at home due to the distance of the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from a listener (A. A. A.) who resides in the city of Riyadh. He says: If I am a quarter of an hour away from the mosque, but I hear the call to prayer through loudspeakers, is there a sin on me if I pray in congregation at home with my brothers?

Answer:
You should hasten to the prayer in the mosque, and seek help from Allah by walking or by car, and be glad of the great good; because a quarter of an hour is not much for those who have cars, and those who have strength. However, if it is difficult for you due to old age, or something similar, then there is no harm.
The criterion is not the sound of the loudspeaker, but the sound of the ordinary mu'adhdhin. If the sound of the ordinary mu'adhdhin is heard in your place when the noises are quiet and there are no obstructions, it is obligatory for you to go; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يأت؛ فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
It was asked of Ibn Abbas: What is the excuse? He said: Fear, or illness.
A blind man came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: O Messenger of Allah, do I have a dispensation to pray in my house, because I have no guide to lead me to the mosque? So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Do you hear the call to prayer?هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟
Sahih Muslim 653
He said: Yes. He said:
Then respond.فأجب
So it is obligatory for you to respond, and to be present in the mosques if you are able to do so. As for if you are not able to do so, due to the distance of the place—as you mentioned—or due to illness, or due to fear, then you are excused in praying at home. We ask Allah for success and assistance for everyone. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah accept, may Allah reward you with good. If the person does not have a car, do you advise him to hire one, or is it not obligatory for him?

The Shaykh: As long as he does not hear the sound of the mu'adhdhin if it were without a loudspeaker; it is not obligatory for him. If the ordinary sound of the known ordinary mu'adhdhin, if he called, they would not hear it in their place because of their distance; then there is no blame on them for praying at home. But if they endure the hardship, and be patient, and bear it; this is better for them and more excellent. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
