Q6: Is it permissible to pay out the zakah on gold or silver in paper currency like other trade goods, meaning that one pays out a quarter of a tenth after converting the gold or silver into paper currency when the lunar year is completed, or not?
A6: There is no blame on one for paying out the zakah on gold and silver in paper currency
equal to its value at the completion of the lunar year; because they all share in being a medium of exchange. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
