Insurance against illness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 4306 )
Q1: When we buy medicine, we send the Social Security the label showing that we paid a certain amount for it. At that point, Social Security returns the money to us. Is this permissible in the Shari'ah or not? We know that the institution where we work deducts a certain amount from our salary every month for Social Security.
A1: This type of insurance against illness is not permissible for you to insure yourselves with the Social Security office or with any other entity; because of the excessive uncertainty, ignorance, and consuming wealth unjustly involved in it. However, if
the Social Security office preserves for you the amounts you pay and returns them to you when you need them and upon leaving your job, then there is nothing wrong with that.
