The illness that permits breaking the fast

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 5660 )
Q: I havea wife who was afflicted with a liver diseaseand then I took her to Al-Huda Specialist Hospitalin Ta'ifand she fasted ten days of last Ramadan but was unable to complete the rest of Ramadan. The specialist doctor told us: she should have six meals a day because of her weakness. Now, the fasting of the month of Ramadan is approaching, and she mentioned that she cannot make up the days of last Ramadan. So I ask Allah, then you, to give me a ruling: does a fidyah (ransom payment) substitute for the fasting or not? Because the doctor said: she must have six meals a day at intervals. Give us a ruling, may Allah reward you.
A: If her actual condition is as described, she is excused from fasting in Ramadan, and she must make up the days she did not fast if Allah heals her and she becomes able to fast. Likewise, if she is unable to fast the coming Ramadan or part of it, she breaks her fast and makes up the days if Allah heals her.
The following Ramadan or part of it, then she breaks her fast and makes up the days if Allah heals her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
