Zakah on Fruits When They Devolve to Heirs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 12435 )
Q: There are brothers who have an estate of harvested crops. Do they pay the zakah before dividing it, or after it is divided and each one knows his share and pays it in his own way? And does the hadith of Abu Bakr apply here, or only to sheep, where one does not combine what is scattered nor separate what is gathered?
A: It is obligatory for each of the heirs to pay zakah on his share if it reaches the nisab. The nisab is five wasqs, and one wasq is sixty sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) by the sa' of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
